During highschool, Pierce began writing songs with his best friends and quickly set himself apart as the best rapper amongst his peers at Caravel and around Delaware. After a high school career which resulted in a state championship, all-state accolades, and a few division one football scholarship offers, Pierce decided to accept a full scholarship to play football at the prestigious Lehigh University where he studied International Relations. Pierce would go on to have a stellar college football career where he started as a linebacker for three years, and would help to eventually lead his team to a Patriot League championship in 2016.
During Pierce’s junior year of college, he was contacted by one of his best friends from high school (Troy Glenn) who had been a fan of his instagram raps, and was well aware of Pierce’s potential and lyrical talents. Troy asked if he’d consider music as an option and start their own record label in which P would be featured as the main artist. Although intrigued by the idea, Pierce found it hard to find the time to get music recorded with another season of football left and the rigors of Lehigh coursework occupying most of his time. The peer-pressure of his classmates who’d already secured early job offers also made it difficult to consider a career in music. Pierce also worried if his family and friends would ridicule him for choosing to pursue a career in music wondering what they would think of his content. However, after his senior season, Pierce decided to forgo training for NFL camps and instead decided to pursue his second passion of making music.
Wanting to get a mixtape out while he still in college, P began recording some of the freestyles he’d written in college and wrote a few additional songs to complete his tape. Getting rides back and forth from Bethlehem, PA to Chester, PA, Pierce completed his first tape and would go on to release his debut mixtape ‘The Cookout’ with a few weeks to spare in the semester. ‘The Cookout’ well exceeded expectations garnering over 7,000 plays on SoundCloud in the first week,a majority of the songs reaching over 1,000 plays within just an hour of release. The positive praise P received from his core fans and peers kept him motivated to continue making music. The summer after graduating, Pierce worked hand in hand with Troy and Jonny to start their record label (Academy Entertainment Group) and continued to drop singles over the summer initiating his transition himself into the music game. As this unfolded, Pierce was simultaneously offered an opportunity to pursue his master’s at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom on an American football scholarship. Pierce was faced with the tough decision to either stay home and start attacking his music career, doing shows and performances, or leave the country for the first time with his best friends to further his education and continue playing the sport he loved. Pierce chose to pursue his masters, planning to grow his reach to an international crowd and utilize his only opportunity to study abroad. Pierce did his first paid performance and then took off to the U.K. shortly afterwards. Although school, football, was a bit counter productive to his music career, Pierce saw this opportunity as an opportunity to meet new friends and expand his fan base overseas. Pierce used what little free time he had to continue releasing singles and is currently in working on dropping his second major project. Pierce has been said to have a flow comparable to Fabulous or Big Sean, w/ a punchy delivery comparable to an early career Drake or Eminem, and metaphor filled lyrics that resemble that of Notorious B.I.G and Lil Wayne. This comparison holds weight as all of these rappers have been cited as influences for Pierce. less
